Home Sweet Home!
We are talking about houses and homes this month. This week, we talked about the different types of houses we see in the community. We played snap and then we looked on Google Maps to see what everyone's houses looked like.
We Made A Rainbow!
We had fun in the kitchen last week. We worked together to make a rainbow for our science experiment! We needed to boil the kettle, fill the cups and use food colouring to colour the water. We used different amounts of sugar in the cups to make the water heavier.
Then Ann-Marie carefully dropped the water into the cylinder so we could see all of the colours of the rainbow! Good fun.

Blue Blue Blue!
We had a great Blue Day today. We invited some students from Ms Gallagher's class over to our room to show them what happens in our classroom every day. Then Conor and Leon from Mr Collins' class helped us to organise our Easter egg hunt. Thanks guys. We had lots of visitors in our school for Blue Day and we had fun releasing blue balloons before we went home. Happy Easter everyone.
What a Baaaaaaa-rilliant Day!
We had a great time visiting Farmer Ryan's farm today. We saw lots and lots of baby lambs! Everyone was very excited. Some of the lambs were inside in the sheds and some of them were outside in the field. We remembered to be careful when we are on the farm.
A Trip to the Big Smoke
We had a great time in Dublin this week. Garda Tyrone drove us up on the bus. We got off at the National Concert Hall and we had great fun at the singalong show. Some of the boys got to conduct the band and sing into the microphone. Afterwards we went to the playground in Stephen's Green. We bumped into Ms Lardner's brother on his lunch. We bought some sweets and walked up Grafton Street. Then we were ready to go back home. What a great day out!
Easter Time is coming!
We enjoyed making some chocolate Easter rabbits yesterday. We sorted brown and white chocolate and we used some blue food colouring to get ready for blue day. We are looking forward to our Easter egg hunt tomorrow!
Getting ready for Blue Day
Ms Gallagher's class have been helping us to get our art for Blue Day ready. We worked together to glue pieces of our names together. Some boys did some sticking and gluing and some boys preferred to watch all the action. Thanks to everyone in Junior Infants for helping!
Growing Our Own!
Our cress seeds have grown so much! They are ready to eat. We made some egg and cress sandwiches. We worked together to get everything ready. Some boys were happy to help make the sandwiches but weren't too keen on tasting the sandwich when we had finished making it! Great work everyone.
Shape Up Guys!
Thanks to some of the boys and girls from Ms Dervan's class who helped us on our Shape Hunt today. We had lots of fun recording the different shapes we saw around the school. We saw two baby lambs when we walked down the road too - super exciting!
What's Up Doc!
Sad news today! Austin fell over on his way back from PE and hurt his knees. We rang the doctor to help us! Mary Ryan showed the doctor the way to our classroom. She fixed Austin's knees with plasters, and checked his heart too! Some people thought the doctor looked very like Ms Gallagher - maybe they're cousins???
Happy Birthday Ze!
We had fun celebrating Ze's 7th birthday today. We made a card and we invited Ms Dervan's and Ms Gallagher's class to enjoy the fun at the birthday party later on. It was a great day!
The Listening Walk
We enjoyed the story The Listening Walk recently. We decided to go on our own listening walk to see what sounds we could hear around Tarmon National School.
We listened to the sounds of the builders working, birds singing, a dog walking on the road. After we came back, we cut and pasted pictures to show what we heard and didn't hear.

Friend or Stranger?
We love going out on walks and bus trips! We need to be careful when we are out and about though. We have been talking about friends and strangers in class.
We watched the Stranger Danger song and then we sorted out people that are friends and strangers.
The next day, we talked about strangers and safer strangers. Safer strangers wear uniforms and they are people who help us - like policemen, doctors and firemen. It's okay to talk to safer strangers! We cut out the pictures of strangers and safer strangers and glued them in the correct box.

We Are Scientists!
We have been having fun doing some science experiments in the kitchen.
On Friday, we made a spring rain shower in a glass. We needed shaving foam, water and food colouring. We took turns to get everything ready.
For another experiment, we checked to see what floats and sinks in water. We filled up the box with water first. We guessed what we thought was going to happen by sticking our picture on our float or sink chart. Then we dropped the stuff into the water so we could tell if they floated or sank!

Where Do You Live?
We had fun on our bus trip today. We have been practising answering questions at Circle Time and one of them is 'Where do you live?'. So we went to everybody's hometown!
We stopped in Tulsk where we got some sweets in O'Connor's and we stopped off to look at the henhouse too.
Then we went to Gurteen and had fun in the playground.
After that, we went to Ballyhaunis for some chips in Supermacs!
We didn't have time to stop in Castlerea but we looked at some of the shops and places out the window when we were passing through!

Pancake Tuesday was flipping great!
We had fun eating and flipping some delicious pancakes. We enjoyed showing off our flipping skills to Mr Kelly's and Ms Glynn's class!
People Who Help Us
We have had lots of fun doing work about People Who Help Us. We took a bus trip to Carrick on Shannon to look at the fire station, police station, school and hospital. We also went on a People Who Help Us walk around Tarmon and checked off people like Mary Ryan, Mr Dowd and builders working on our new school. We had great fun in Roscommon on Wednesday when we got a tour of the fire station from Fireman Pat!
Getting Ready for Christmas!
We are really enjoying getting ready for Christmas this month. We did lots of Christmassy things like pulling crackers, opening our Advent calendar and making Christmas decorations. We took part in the school carol service and we went on a Christmas walk around the school to look for signs of Christmas. Now come on Santa, we're ready!
A Visit to Santaland
Everyone is getting excited for Christmas!
We visited Santaland in Riverstown - everyone was delighted to go home with a present from Santa.
