Many thanks to Conor and Padraig from Harmac Medical Products who are working with 5th class for STEAM. We worked as Civil Engineers to make our own Paper Towers and Bridges. Last week we celebrated Safer Internet Day, an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise.
For more information please visit the parents section of Webwise on the link below: Lily from Music Generation Roscommon visited us today for music.
The students had the opportunity to play percussion instruments collaboratively with their whole class and they explored beat, rhythm and dynamics. The drums were a huge hit!! 🥁 🥁 🥁 We celebrated Grandparents Day today as part of Catholic Schools Week 2024.
Our grandparents were invited to visit their grandchild’s classroom, after which, we all assembled in the hall for a prayer service led by Fr John. Following the service, the children were delighted to entertain their proud grandparents with some beautiful singing and dancing. Pupils from various classes performed some beautiful Irish dancing. More talented dancers performed their jiving and line dancing skills. Some of our senior students took to the stage to play “Óró ‘Sé Do Bheatha Bhaile” on their string instruments with Padraic from Music Generation. Our after-school choir penned and performed their very own song dedicated to Grandparents. Second Class performed a cool rap as Gaeilge! 😎 To end the celebration our grandparents enjoyed a cup of tea and some treats thanks to the Parents Association. It was a very special and memorable day for pupils and grandparents alike. 💗💗 Well done to our senior pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th Classes: Eimear, Blake, Sarah Mae, Jonathan, Isaac, Moya, Kaitlinn and Laura who represented the school so well in the Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union Quiz in TUS - Athlone Campus on Sunday last.
The children in Junior and Senior Infants had a wonderful time at the Roscommon Arts Centre today where they enjoyed an interactive musical show based on the classic nursery rhyme, 'There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly'. |
