Thanks to coach Bryan from Castlerea St Kevins for organising a fantastic Gaelic blitz in O’Rourke Park yesterday. Children from 4th, 5th and 6th Classes took part in the blitz along with many other schools in the Castlerea area.
Looks like it was great fun! 🏃♀️🏃🏐 Children from 4th and 5th Class had the best morning decorating and devouring delicious cupcakes! Many thanks to Niamh for her time in facilitating this lovely activity.
🧁🧁🧁 Well done to all the students who competed in the Connacht Cross Country Championships in Tuam yesterday. We are so proud of the determination and commitment shown by these pupils in a very tough race competing against over 130 pupils. Many thanks to Susan Gannon and Samina Burke for all their hard work in training and preparing the boys and girls. Also a big thank you to all our supporters who showed up to cheer the children on! 🏃♀️🏃🏃♂️ On Thursday the 27th of September we celebrated National Fitness Day by walking/jogging laps of our track. Each class tried their best to complete as many laps as possible. In total the whole school walked or jogged 2,279 laps, which is the equivalent of 615km or 14.6 marathons. We had lots of fun!
First Class children were busy creating animal enclosures this week during our STEM sessions. 🐅🦓🐘 They had loads of fun designing and constructing their creations using clothes pegs and lollipop sticks. Pupils in Second Class took part in an “automatic” maths trail focusing on number plates in the school car park.
They took pictures of the cars using the iPads and made number sentences from the registration plate numbers. Well done to all the children who took part in the Cross Country Championships in Roscommon today. Competition was fierce with over 1,000 pupils participating in 1,000m & 1,200m races.
Massive congratulations go to our 3rd and 4th Class Girls’ team who were placed 1st in their category and to our 5th and 6th Girls’ Team who were placed Third in their category! Special congratulations go to Sophie Burke, Emilia Kenny, Ewan Devine and Sarah Neary who each finished in the first twelve in their respective races. An amazing achievement in such a large group! Sincere thanks to Susan Gannon and Samina Burke for their dedication and hard work in training and organising the pupils on a voluntary basis over the past few weeks. 🏃♂️🏃🏃♀️🎉 Children in the Rainbow Room explored their engineering skills this week as they built windmills using Knex! #stemeducation
The Superstar Room enjoyed building and creating during the first week of school. The children also wrote letters to themselves and posted them! 🏫📩
